6 Ways To Know You've Found The Right Gym For You.
Here’s a fun fact..
Did you know there’s over 40 gyms in Manchester City Centre alone?
And that this buffet of fitness communities only gets bigger when we increase that to Greater Manchester?
Wait, you ready for it?
Over 150 gyms..
Big gyms, small gyms..
Commercial gyms, private gyms..
1-2-1 PT gyms, Group Training gyms..
There are plenty!
So..
With so many different memberships to try, how do you know you’ve found the right one for you?
Well, we’re here to help with that right now.
Enjoying your training is one of our fundamental philosophies. It was one of the cornerstones from which M3 Perform was built.
Yet, it’s so much more than simply (and sadistically) doing burpees with a smile on your face.
You’re Never Afraid To Ask Questions.
If you’ve found a gym where you feel comfortable enough to ask any question whatsoever, you’re on to a winner.
Whether it’s training, diet or anything else, being willing to ask questions is key. There’s no such thing as a stupid question.
Here’s the thing..
We guarantee that at one point in time, that the person you’re afraid of asking, one day didn’t know the answer to the very question you want to ask.
You should never feel hesitant to ask. A good gym we feel, will provide the kind of environment where that goes without saying.
You Don’t Even Have To Always Ask For Help..
Some gyms will go above and beyond..
And if you’ve found a gym where most of the questions you have, get answered without you even having to ask, then you’ve really struck the jackpot.
Granted, this isn’t exactly crucial, but it’s a huge win if you happen to be training somewhere where this is the case.
Whether it’s a coach taking the extra steps to ask their own questions, or to further demonstrate movements and techniques, or even a simple FAQ booklet or Ebook to try and get ahead of the game..
You’re onto a winner if you’re gym has this.
You Make The Time To Go, Rather Than Going When You Have Time.
This doesn’t even have anything to do with your goals and ambitions either..
You just genuinely want to go, and will make the act of simply turning up, a priority.
Putting it in your diary, blocking it out of your shared diary at work..
It becomes a sticking point in your weekly calendar. Something that makes you say;
“Sorry, I can’t, I have plans”.
The gym is your plan! That’s how much you enjoy going. Granted, it won’t ALWAYS be like this. We all have days where we’d rather head out for a nice meal or perhaps just have to stay a bit later at work.
But, it generally takes something pretty important for you to miss your date with the dumbbells!
You’d Do Burpees And Brunch All On The Same Day With The Same People.
We feel another big bonus of being a member of any gym, is the relationships you form with other members.
The other people, just like you, out there on the front line feeling the burn and powering through.
There’s a strange sense of comradery I’ve always felt between ones self and others who’ve all just gone through a session where you’ve just wanted to cry a little.
And it’s a huge win, if the gym you’ve found allows those relationships and friendships to form. Meaning you could quite easily see yourself doing burpees and brunch all on the same day.
It becomes more than a gym at that point I’ve always felt. It becomes more of a community that you’re right in the middle of, and an integral part of.
You Have WhatsApp Groups Set Up With Other Members.
Ah, every coaches worst nightmare. The secret WhatsApp group where they can call us every name under the sun after we’ve just given them 200 burpees to finish the session..
Just kidding of course!
It’s great. And if you’re part of a gym where this is the case for you, then you’re doing really well!
Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t make or break whether or not it’s the right gym. This is just one of those really awesome bonuses of a good community.
As mentioned before, it makes it more than a gym. It makes you more than a member. It makes you an important part of something great!
Everyone Knows Your Name.
Obviously, this isn’t always going to be the case in some bigger gyms.
It might not even be the case in smaller ones. Depending on what time you train, who you regularly train with etc.
But, you know you’re in an awesome gym when those who you do regularly see, know you by name.
Again, it just represents that you’re more than “another member” on the spreadsheet. You’re part of the gym. You’re part of what makes the whole thing tick.
People notice when you’re not there, and they’re glad to see you when you are.
Plus, it’s just always nice when someone calls you by name, isn’t it?
And finding a gym in which that’s the case, is no different really.
How many of these apply to you and your gym?
I reckon even if you’re nodding your head to even one of them, you’ve found a top gym!
If you’re nodding your head to all six, then get yourself signed up for life, because you’re on to a winner!
A persons gym experience should be fun. It should be, on the whole, enjoyable.
(Nobody really is going to enjoy feeling like their lungs are on fire in the midst of a 5 minute burpee challenge - so don’t worry if you don’t like that part)..
But when we say FUN, we generally mean the whole package.
The people, the coaches, the environment, the atmosphere..
It all matters when choosing a gym, if you really want to make it a part of your routine, and your life for that matter.
